Richard Kelly's New Film, 'The Box'

I've been a Richard Kelly fan since my first viewing of Donnie Darko. That movie is a straight up mindfuck, and it easily ranks as one of my favorite films. (Side note: I will never watch S. Darko, the garbage straight-to-DVD sequel that Kelly had nothing  to do with.)

Southland Tales wasn't anywhere close to being on the same level as Donnie Darko, but it wasn't bad at all. In fact, I liked the movie a lot more after I watched it a second time. It, too, is quite a mindfuck.

So, being a Kelly fan, when I first read about his newest flick, The Box, I was pretty excited. Well, up until I saw the first trailer. I'm not sure what it is, but something seems off about it. I'll just say I'm not as excited about the film now as I was when I first read about it. Hopefully I'm wrong, though, and Kelly will delivery another kickass mindfuck of a movie. It hit theaters today, so we'll see.

  1. Speaking of...um...boxes, There's an update to the Sapssfabrik teaser on the main page that you may want to comment on. No trailer yet--dammit.

I tried to post it here yesterday but couldn't put the link in the comments.
